Electronic Meetings’ Summons To Become Lawful in England On 30th January

The Local Government (Electronic Communications) (England) Order 2015 will come into effect on 30th January 2015, thereby enabling the use of electronic communications in the sending of summonses to members of Parish Councils in England to Parish Council meetings.

Members may only receive summonses electronically where they consent to it being transmitted by this method and they may at any time withdraw their consent.

Cllr Ken Browse, chair of NALC (National Association of Local Councils) said:

"NALC welcomes the Government's announcement that allows local (parish and town) councils to be able to send agendas electronically rather than in the post; ending a budgetary burden on councils and enabling them to benefit from 21st Century technology."
