Why is Martyn’s Law Important?
Martyn’s Law, also known as the Protect Duty, is forthcoming legislation designed to improve security at public venues and events in the UK. It places a legal duty on event organisers and venue operators to assess and mitigate risks from terrorism and other serious threats. For Council-run events, this means ensuring your risk assessments consider security threats alongside traditional health and safety concerns.
