Webinar 1: Website Accessibility Essentials for Parish & Town Councils
Presenter: Mark Tomkins, Parish & Town Council Website, Accessibility & .gov.uk Expert, Aubergine
Description:
Join Mark Tomkins for an essential session on understanding and meeting website accessibility requirements for parish and town councils. Mark will break down the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA, explain what they mean in practical terms, highlight common pitfalls, and provide clear, actionable guidance on how to stay compliant.
With the recent introduction of Assertion 10, it’s now more important than ever that your council's website meets legal accessibility standards under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018. Mark will explain how these requirements apply to all councils, including those using .gov.uk and non-.gov.uk domains, and what clerks, internal auditors, and exempt councils need to know to avoid non-compliance.
