The National Joint Council for Local Government Services has agreed the new pay scales for 2026/27, including a 3.30% increase to the annual salary rates.
The revised rates apply retrospectively from 1 April 2026, and employers are encouraged to implement the pay award as soon as possible. The updated scales apply to clerks and other employees employed under the terms of the model contract.
Where requested by a former employee who left after 1 April 2026, employers should pay any back pay owed up to the employee’s final day of employment.
